This last weekend my husband and I had the opportunity to spend some time with family in the Twin Cities area at Minnehaha Falls. It was great to catch up with extended family and see the beautiful falls.
We went on Saturday and we didn’t realize how packed it was going to be! There was a walk going on for Alzheimer’s with food trucks and people everywhere. It was a fun and spontaneous experience.
With fall in the air and cooler temperatures, I have still been running outside most mornings. This is what I typically do in the summer/fall in order to save money from an expensive gym membership year round! I love to check out new routes and see the trees changing color. The distance I run varies depending on how I’m feeling. Right now, it’s been 1-3 miles depending on the day.
Body Weight Training
After my run, I like to do 20-30 minutes of a bodyweight or free weight workout. This is usually some form of HIIT (high intensity interval training). I vary between using a few blogger’s workouts like Peanut Butter Fingers and Madeline Moves or whatever fun workouts I can find on Pinterest.
I have also used this guide from Cassie.net. If you are brand new to body weight workouts, check this guide out and start with the basics all on your own! If you are a beginner, start with 20 seconds ON, 10 seconds REST for each exercise and repeat 4-10x. For example, do 20 seconds of squats, rest 10 seconds and then move to the next exercise (lunges) and repeat the same. Go through all 4 exercises in that pattern for 4-10x. If you are intermediate, start with 30 seconds ON, 15 seconds REST and repeat 4-10x. If you are advanced, complete 1 minute ON, 30 seconds REST and repeat 4-10x.
Online, In-Home Workout Classes
Something new that I have been doing are live, in-home workout classes. This is all through a new online workout program called Victorious. You are able to book classes in the morning or afternoon and workout live with the trainers. You also have the option to view dozens of on demand workouts from the previous days.
They have various workouts from yoga to HIIT to cardio to mobility! I have been using the FREE 2 week trial that they allow all new users and have been loving it! Each workout is different and they focus on targeting different muscles groups every time. This is NOT an advertisement for Victorious, I have just simply really enjoyed their workouts! Click here to start your own free trial or to just check out their website. My favorite workouts I have done with Victorious are their HIIT Strong, HIIT Tempo and Firestarter. The HIIT workouts have typically been moderately intense with abs and strength training included in the workout. Firestarter was a full body, high intensity workout focused on cardio and getting that heart rate up.
That’s it for this week! I hope you all had a great week and have a great weekend! Please comment below any of your favorite workouts or recommendations. 🙂
